Vista Analysis publishes book in Chinese
On April 18, Haakon Vennemo of Vista Analysis was in Beijing to launch the book "Application of SEA and CBA methodologies in environmental planning", which he has edited with Zhao Xuetao and Yu Fang from the Chinese Academy of Environmental Planning. The book is published by the Chinese Environmental Sciences Press. It will be used as a textbook at universities in China.
Haakon Vennemo explains that the book is the fruit of a large three-year collaboration project. Karin Ibenholt, Henrik Lindhjem, John M. Skjelvik and Hanne Toftdahl of Vista Analysis have contributed from Norway, along with colleagues from Pöyry (formely Econ) and Cicero. - The environmental problems of China are huge. The country does not lack environmental technology, nor the means to invest, says Vennemo, and points out that China invests 60 percent of its GDP. - What's lacking is the competence and capacity to make reasonable priorities. We believe that the book will make a contribution to improved planning and prioritization in China's provinces, where the problems are acutely felt. During the project Vennemo and his colleagues have worked closely with environmental planners in Yunnan, Guizhou, Hubei and Jiangsu provinces.
