New partner and employees at Vista!

Oslo, 11.04.2023

Senior economist Åsmund Sunde Valseth becomes a new partner at Vista Analyse. He is a former head of section in the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) and senior adviser at the Ministry of Finance. He joined Vista Analyse in May 2022.

- I have come to know Vista as a company with high professional quality and integrity. I have really enjoyed working with old colleagues from the Ministry of Finance, and together with all the new colleagues I have gotten to know. Now I look forward to taking greater responsibility for developing the company further, says Valseth.

- Strengthens our expertise on energy and taxes

In the Ministry of Finance, Valseth first worked in the finance department, where he was responsible for matters under the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. He then worked with petroleum tax and climate policy in the tax economics department. In NVE, he headed the power systems section, which was responsible for technical-economic assessments of grid facilities. The section also had one of Norway's leading environments within model-based power market analysis.

In Vista Analyse, Valseth has, among other things, assisted the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy in creating the first offshore wind auctions, as well as investigating the grid rental reform for Samfunnsbedriftene energi. He has also assessed the high-price contribution on wind and hydropower. He has given several lectures on resource rent taxation on wind power, including at the law firm BAHR.

CEO Haakon Vennemo welcomes Valseth to the partnership:

- Åsmund is academically strong, has management experience and has a lot of practical experience from public administration. He is one of several employees who are currently taking a lot of responsibility in Vista, ensuring that we have exciting times ahead of us. Among other things, we are further strengthening our focus on energy and taxes.

New employees

Furthermore, Vista Analyse has hired three skilled employees who will finish their studies in spring 2023.

Jonas Lie holds a master's degree in economics and business administration from NHH, specializing in economics. In his master's thesis, he investigated how inheritance taxation affects economic inequality. He is now in the process of completing a master's degree in philosophy. Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he was a student intern at the WTO/EFTA delegation in Geneva in 2020.

Siri Bråten Øye is an economist from UiO specializing in macroeconomics and finance. She is currently writing her master's thesis in collaboration with Statistics Norway on how interest rates affect house prices through the market for mortgages. In the summer of 2022, she had an internship in DNB Markets' macro team.

Sarah Eidsmo is an economist from UiO and was an exchange student at the University of Melbourne in the autumn of 2022. Alongside her studies, she has worked with economic analyses in a position as Junior Analyst in Veidekke ASA. In her master's thesis, she writes about how fast charging infrastructure affects the demand for electric vehicles.

- I am pleased that Vista Analyse continues to attract skilled and committed candidates, and look forward to welcoming the new employees this summer, says Vennemo.
